Akshaya conducts painting competition at Palakkad

Palakkad: As part of an initiative to make the children aware of its multifaceted activities and make them participate in these activities during the summer vacation, Akshaya conducted the Palakkad District level Painting Competition on May 31, 2010.

The competition was organised at four different venues in the district to ensure greater participation. Alathur, Palakkad, Pattambi and Mannarkkad played hosts to the children’s competition.

In Alathur, the programme was inaugurated by Nazar, President, Alathur Panchayat in the presence of K V Padmakumar, CSC State Consultant at the Government Girls High School. Separate inaugurations were held at each venue.

The competition was conducted in four categories, i.e. Lower Primary, Upper Primary, High School and Higher Secondary School. A total of 412 children participated in the competition held on the last day of their holidays. The students were given different subjects according to their category. While the LP students had no specific subjects, it was IT and Students for UP, IT and Society for HS and Internet and Youth for HSS.

The 2 hours given for painting saw different thoughts and ideas reflected on the canvas by the students. Gifts like name slips, time table slips, sweets and balloons were distributed to participating children. The paintings will be judged by Chitra Kala Trust, Palakkad and results will be published on June 04, 2010.

Special online registration was developed for registration of Painting Competition with the active support of Akshaya Entrepreneurs. Registration was started on May 23 and 515 children registered through various Akshaya Centres. Committees of Akshaya entrepreneurs were formed under the leadership of Block Coordinators for organizing the programme in each venue.

Akshaya had earlier conducted a similar drawing and painting competition for school children in Thiruvananthapuram on May 08, 2010.
