Trivandrum: In a huge endorsement to the Kerala Government’s proposed Student Entrepreneurship Policy, film legend Mammootty has asked his legion of fans to back the campaign online and make it a reality. The policy announced by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at the recently concluded Emerging Kerala global investors meet, provides 20% attendance and 4% grace marks to students engaged in entrepreneurship during their study.

In his latest post on his Facebook page, Mammootty wrote, “If Apple, Microsoft, Google and Facebook were campus start-ups, I share the vision of Kris (Gopalakrishnan) that our youth in colleges will also build a global company one day. Thus, I support the student movement ‘30 days to Freedom’ to spread awareness on student entrepreneurship policy.”
 
Following the CM’s announcement, the students of College of Engineering Trivandrum, led by Sharan Thampi, head of its Entrepreneurship Cell, started the online Facebook page (facebook.com/30daystofreedom) with a countdown to ensure that the Chief Minister keeps his word and delivers results in 30 days.
 
In his message on facebook.com/Mr.Mammootty, the actor said the policy for students trying to create employment, wealth and knowledge in our society. Like, Share and spread the word as this is one of the best things that happened to youth in Kerala, ever!
 
Mammootty appealed to his fans to support the 30 days to freedom campaign online. The page has about 3,500 likes so far and the campaign has gathered momentum with Entrepreneurship Cells formed in over 83 colleges in the last 14 days.
 
The Student Entrepreneurship policy change announced by CM was mooted by Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-Chairman of Infosys & Chief Mentor of the Kochi based Startup Village, with a vision to create a billion dollar start-ups from Kerala college campuses.
 
“Backed by Kris and Govt. of India, the Student Entrepreneurship Movement will bring a change in the attitude of Keralites from being job seekers to job creators,” said Sanjay Vijayakumar, Chairperson of Governing Board of Startup Village. Student entrepreneurship movements are prominent in American Universities like Stanford, Harvard and MIT, which are the cradle of IT entrepreneurship in the Silicon Valley.
