‘Green & Smart Kerala’ Technology Seminar on June 08

Tvm: As part of the National Technology Day 2010 celebrations, a seminar on ‘Green Kerala - Smart Kerala’ is being jointly organised by the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT), Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment and Kerala State IT Mission on June 08, 2010 at Trivandrum.

‘WiMAX Technology’ and ‘e-Waste Management’ are the main topics of the one day seminar. Key resources from Intel Corporation and BSNL will be handling the sessions on WiMAX Technology. A live demo of WiMAX is also being arranged for the participants.

The session on E-Waste Management will be chaired by Dr. Achuth Sankar, Director - Centre for Bioinformatics and Dr. Santhosh Babu IAS, MD, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu will talk on e-Waste Management Policy. One of the rapidly growing environmental problems of the world, Electronic Waste or E-Waste refers to obsolete electronic devices like computers, servers, calculators, scanners etc.  Web estimates have it that total obsolete computers originating from government offices, business houses, industries and household in India is of the order of 2 million numbers.
