TiE Kerala wins TiE Global Award 2012 for effective leadership

Kochi: TiE Kerala, the State chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), has won the TiE Global Award 2012 in the category of ‘Most Effective Leadership Transition’. The award is in recognition for the singular distinction of executing five smooth and most successful leadership transitions in its short span of nine years in existence. The award was announced at the TiE Global Annual Retreat held recently at Lisbin in Portugal.

John K Paul, President of TiE Kerala received the award from B B Tyagi, Indian Ambassador to Portugal at a function held at the historic Forte de São Julião da Barra in Lisbon. There were 43 nominations in all categories for the 2012 TiE Global Awards.

In a statement, John said, “A smooth leadership transition is vital to the sustainability and future of a chapter and therefore this award is in recognition of chapters which have consistently been able to successfully transition between terms with minimal disruption. The chapter today has in place a sound and time-tested process for leadership transition which ensures intense activity, high growth and healthy finances”.

The past presidents who had successfully lead the TiE Kerala Chapter during the eventful period and which enabled the chapter to win the coveted award include C Balagopal, MD, Terumo Penpol; S R Nair, MD, Team Frontline; Jose Dominic, MD, CGH Earth; Shivdas B Menon, MD, Sterling Farm Research & Services; Murali Gopalan, Sr. VP & CIO, UST Global and Wg. Cdr. (Rtd) K Chandrasekhar was the Executive Director all through the period.

Tie Kerala had also been well recognised earlier for the Best Innovative Programmes - for  India International Food & Agri Expo in 2009; fiirst Chapter to have organised an Inter-Chapter Business Delegation of CMs in 2009; Best Practices Initiative - Top10 Chapters in 2010 and shortlisted for Best Leadership Transition in 2011.

TiE Kerala is holding TiEcon Kerala 2012 in Kochi and TiE India CM Retreat at Kumarakam in October this year, the first time in a non metro city.

The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals with roots in the Indus region. The Kerala Chapter was formed in 2003.
