MindHelix launches smartphone app for women’s security

E-mail

Kochi: MindHelix Technologies, a Kochi based start-up, today launched a smartphone application for improving women’s security, Sentinel. The free application can send instant alerts in case of danger. It works in multiple scenarios even without triggering an alert manually. A forced power off on the phone or an improper exit of application will also trigger an alert. Prolonged signal loss will also cause a failsafe alert SMS and email to be sent from the company’s server.

In a release, Christin Emmanuel George, Co-Founder & CEO, MindHelix said, “As young citizen of India it was hard for us to stand by when our mothers and sisters and friends are being victimized. We made a mobile application that sends the location and other details to close friends or family, we hope that Sentinel will make a small difference. MindHelix wants to add a direct emailing / texting to nearest police station as soon as possible. We hope to get their consent in receiving and acting on such information”.

With simplicity and ease of use being the key parameters, Sentinel can send email and SMS alerts to multiple pre-configured numbers. The alerts consist of the last known location, direction of travel and details like mode of transport and vehicle number that the traveller can enter. The application that runs on smart phones with Android, Blackberry, Symbian, iPhone and Java operating systems can be downloaded free from the company’s website. The application was created with smartphone using urban women in mind and depends on the availability of continuous cellular connectivity (within cities).

Founded in 2009, MindHelix Technologies is a Technopark TBI incubated company at its extension centre in Kochi. The company focuses on the development of rich internet applications for mobiles and desktop software. TukTuk Meter, the autorickshaw fare calculator app is another innovative product from MindHelix.
