HP products back in Kerala as AKITDA lifts ban

Kochi: The All Kerala IT Dealers Association has lifted the ban against HP & Redington. The ban which was in force for the last 56 days saw a complete black out of HP products from the Kerala market. Talking to Kerala IT News, Vinod Velappan, State Treasurer, AKITDA said, “HP has accepted all our demands. It’s a victory for AKITDA”.

AKITDA was agitating against HP's new sales policy. An emergency State Council was held today at Ernakulam to discuss the issue in all the State Council Members, Sub Distributors and AKITDA State Committee members took part.

The problem started when HP introduced a new telecom and FMCG partner in to the eco system. AKITDA had given notice to M/s Redington on June 10, 2010 to stop billing the new Non IT RD partner appointed by the HP. Redington is the only national distribution partner of HP in Kerala. AKITDA members across Kerala were not purchasing or selling any HP product including Compaq and Pavilion Laptops and Desktops, Commercial Laptops and Desktops, Large or small format printers, consumables or any IT product that had HP brand, for almost two months now.

The All Kerala IT Dealers Association is an organisation of IT sellers in Kerala with members from 13 districts.
