Trivandrum: Five years after they cheated more than 600 of their employees and other job aspirants of nearly Rs.10 crores, the Kerala Police have finally arrested two of the promoters of the now defunct IT company, Aryans Infoway, which had its offices in Technopark, Trivandrum and elsewhere. Out of five accused in the case, Jayakrishnan, 36 and his father, Karunakaran Nair, 74 are the arrested, and the Police is hopeful of catching the others soon.

All the five have been absconding for the past five years since the case was registered in 2008 when Aryans Infoway shut shop. In June 2011, the Kerala Police had issued a lookout notice for the key accused. The others being, Jayakrishnan’s younger brother Harikrishnan, who was the CEO of Aryans Infoway at that time; their mother Mallika S Nair and Vimal, a Manager of the company.

Recently, the Kerala Police took Karunakaran Nair into custody from Bangalore after he was arrested by the CBI in connection with another fraud case. The subsequent grilling and investigations helped them trap Jayakrishnan. According to the Police, the whole family was living in Nepal under fake identity and they had started a software firm there also.

It was during 2006-8, that Aryans Infoway recruited more than 600 Engineering and MCA graduates and they were made to deposit Rs.1 lakh each as ‘share investment’ in the company. Freshers had to sign a three year service bond and those who violated any terms of employment had to forego the amount. Fresh recruits were paid Rs.5,000 as stipend during a namesake six-month training period. Next was a six months probation period when they were paid Rs.7,000 and after that a Software Engineer got Rs.10,000. But the fact was they got salary only once every two months or so. Most of the recruits were from North India and Tamil Nadu.

Aryans Infoway claimed to be an ISO 9000: 2000 certified IT Company with branches in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Bangalore and operated from the M Square Building in the Technopark campus.
