K G Girish Babu appointed as CEO of Technopark Trivandrum

Tvm: Veteran IT administrator, K G Girish Babu, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Technopark, Trivandrum. He will assume charge on December 01, 2011. Presently, he heads the Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd. (KSITIL) as its Managing Director and also holds the additional charge as the CEO of Cyberpark, Kozhikode. Girish Babu was the founder CEO of Infopark Kochi.

Girish Babu was a member of the formative team of Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) when the IT Mission was started in 1999. He has also worked as the Chief Operating Officer - IT Parks during 2002-2003. As the CEO of Infopark, Kochi during 2002-2006, he brought up Kochi as a prominent IT destination in south India. In 2009-10, he was the CEO of UL Cyberpark which is coming up in Kozhikode.

Girish started his career with the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) in 1981. He had played a key role with the erstwhile Kerala Hi-Tec Industries (KELTEC), now Brahmos Aerospace, Thiruvananthapuram. During 2000-2001, he was the President & CEO of a US based IT company, iORMYX, where he learned the skills of international marketing of IT products and services. He was primarily responsible for conceptualising the SmartCity project and bringing Tecom as an investor. Girish Babu hails from Punnayurkulam in Thrissur District.

Girish takes charge from Mervin Alexander whose tenure completed on November 30. Mervin, a 1987 batch Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer, was at the helm of Technopark from June 2009, on deputation with the Government of Kerala.
