Alappuzha: Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate the first phase of the IT building of Cherthala Infopark on January 09, 2011 at Pallipuram in Cherthala, Alappuzha District. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Working Women’s Hostel and Day Care Centre at the park.

The first phase consists of about 1 lakh sq.ft of the proposed 2.4 lakh sq.ft IT building at the park. The building will accommodate around 1,000 to 1,400 IT professionals. The Infopark officials hope that remaining 1.4 lakh sq.ft will be functional from May 2011. When fully complete, the building can accommodate around 2,000 to 2,800 professionals.

Part of the building will be developed as plug and play facility for the benefit of small and medium players. Energy saving measures such as recycling of treated water for air conditioning and building management system, energy saving lighting system, etc. have been incorporated. BSNL has already provided connectivity and the work for providing Reliance connectivity is in progress.

The Working Women’s Hostel with a Day Care Centre planned in Infopark Cherthala will have accommodation facilities for about 300 working women with 171 rooms in a built up area of 55,000 sq.ft.

Infopark Cherthala is the second spoke of Infopark Kochi to be launched after Infopark Koratty. It is part of the plan by the Kerala IT Department to expand its reach in a hub and spoke model. Infopark Cherthala is approximately 40 Km from Infopark Kochi. It is planned on 66 acres, 60 acres of which have already been notified as Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The park will eventually have a total built-up area of 2.5 million sq. ft. and is expected to generate about 20,000 jobs.

Not sure if these people understand how to do business. Still in the old school thought of keeping everything under their ass. They really need to put their thinking hats and understand IT based development is all about having more business done from Kerala. The time and money they spend on these kind of IT infra develpment is an utter waste as none of the big guys who are intending to set up an IT shop needs these kind of cattle sheds. They will build their lavish campus. I think the govt has to focus on attracting more of companies into Kerala and setup their shops rather than buidling so called parks in all nook and corner. I had been to Koratty infopark for its inaguration and have seen the big event where CM handed key to a company called Bluelabs. Today the company itself is gone. So moral of story is to have a speedy growth need to get established players setup shop. Please help them get what they want in terms of approvals and nodding they will help you shine..
