Tvm: The mobile-based citizen services provided by Kerala State IT Mission, the nodal IT implementing agency of the Government of Kerala, have come in for recognition by the Grand Jury of the recently held mBillionth Awards South Asia 2010. The m-Governance project got a Certificate of Recognition for ‘initiating a cost effective, efficient and round-the-clock government information system’ and the Dr. SMS project (m-Health) for ‘launching a mobile-based project that delivers health-related information via SMS’.
The mBillionth Awards were given away at a ceremony held on July 23, 2010 at New Delhi. Sabarish K, Mission Coordinator, KSITM participated in one of the panel discussions, wherein he highlighted the mobile initiatives of Kerala with specific reference to Dr. SMS project.
Earlier mobile-based projects of KSITM, Dr. SMS and Dam Information System to Farmers via SMS were short listed for Grand Jury to be held in Colombo during June 10-13, 2010. The projects had found place among 160 “Successful Quality Nominations” received from countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Maldives. The mBillionth Award launched by the Digital Empowerment Foundation is a dedicated platform to explore the latent potential of mobile sector across South Asia. It is the first of its kind in the region to recognize and facilitate mobile innovations, applications and content services delivery.
