E-mail

Tvm: The rolling out of the Kerala Model of Fishing Vessel Registration & License Issuing System (FISHNET- ReAL Craft) was inaugurated by the State Minister for Fisheries, Shri S Sarma at a function today in Trivandrum.

Registration and Licensing of Fishing Craft (ReAL Craft) is an e-Service project being implemented by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Kerala State Centre for the Directorate of Fisheries, Govt. of Kerala. FISHNET is an e-governance Portal-cum-web based workflow application developed by NIC Kerala for the Fisheries Department using LAPP technology.

Speaking at a National Workshop on FISHNET- ReAL Craft, Sharma said that this project would improve the coastal security in a big way as it would help avoid infiltration by sea provided all sea going fishing vessels and boats are registered. He also said that this is a model for other states to emulate.

FISHNET- Real Craft project has been successfully implemented in all the marine districts of Kerala. This project will be rolled out in all the remaining coastal states / UTs. FISHNET-ReAL Craft will facilitate Online Licensing & Registration System for Fishing Vessels and a database on Fishing Vessels and their movement in all the coastal states and UTs. The Coastal security has become an important issue after the 26/11 incident and this project assumes greater significance because of this.

Senior bureaucrats from the State and Central Govt., Fisheries Dept., NIC, Navy and Coast Guard besides representatives from nine coastal states attended this workshop.
