Trivandrum: The Department of Information Technology, Government of Kerala along with Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communication & IT, Government of India assisted by NASSCOM, will organize the State Consultation Workshop on Citizen Centric e-Governance at Thiruvananthapuram on February 19, 2013.

Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the workshop to be presided over by the Minister for IT & Industries, Shri P K Kunhalikutty. Jose Cyriac IAS, Chief Secretary, GoK will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Rajendra Kumar IAS, Joint Secretary (eGov), DeitY, GoI will make an overview of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). P H Kurian IAS, Principal Secretary - IT, GoK will present an overview of the e-Governance initiatives of Kerala State. Gaurav Diwedi IAS, Director, DeitY, GoI and Ms Kavita Bhatia, Director, DeitY, GoI will address on the Integrated e-Governance Framework.

The workshop is organized by DeitY, along with NASSCOM. This consultative meet is part of the 50 workshops being organized in all States and Union Territories (UTs) to amplify the mission and message of the NeGP - ‘Public Services Closer Home’. The first workshop was hosted in National Capital Territory of Delhi in July 2011 and the workshop in Thiruvananthapuram is the 22nd in the series.

The Thiruvananthapuram workshop will be attended by key stakeholders of the NeGP, who will be drawn from Central and State Governments, e-Governance consultants, technology partners and implementing agencies. During the day long workshop, the Transport, Revenue and Police Departments of Kerala Government will showcase e-Governance solutions implemented under the National e-Governance Plan.

NeGP, a key component of the Government's ‘inclusive growth’ strategy, was approved by the Cabinet in May 2006. It aims to deliver public services to the common man in his locality to make them both accessible and affordable.
