Kerala Finance Minister goes online with a slew of web initiatives

E-mail

Tvm: The Kerala State Finance Minister, Shri K M Mani has launched his ministry’s website and a host of other online initiatives to bring in transparency and improve the efficiency of departments under his ministry. Online complaint registration, SMS alert system from Check Posts, e-Appeal, online TDS enrolment and e-payment of Commercial Tax Department fees were some of the initiatives that were inaugurated by the Minister today in Thiruvananthapuram.

In his address, the Minister hailed this initiative as a milestone which will improve the performance of the departments under him. He also termed it as the fulfilment of a proposal that was announced in the 2011-12 State Budget. He expressed hope that the website will help the people and the department to address their grievance efficiently. In the second phase, there will be a provision for direct interaction with the Finance Minister through video conferencing.

Giving details about the portal, Suman Billa IAS, Commissioner, Commercial Taxes said, “The interactive website will have the provision to accept suggestions for budget making and policy making from the public. The online complaint registration and monitoring system has an automatic delivery mechanism by which the grievance is directed to the nodal officers in each department who will have to reply within five working days. The complainants can track the status of their petition online”.

Launched as part of the e-governance project of the UDF government all orders and details of projects related to the Finance ministry and the departments under the ministry will be put online. Appeals related to the Taxation Department can be filed through e-Appeals system in the portal. E-payment of Commercial Tax Department fees, online enrolment and electronic payment of TDS, and SMS alerts about arrival and departure of consignment at check posts are some of the other features of the fm.kerala.gov.in website which has been designed and developed by C-DIT.

sir,
Happy to see such an initiative, which will be helpfull and informative to all. It is heard that e- stamping is going to be implemented soon. Normally it is being implemented through banks. Is there any chance to consider Treasury Department itself for the job? Till now there were doing the job and why not the department considered as the agents eventhough the Dept is fully computerised and capable of doing such challenges.
